Syntronic At The Forefront of O-RAN Radio Design
In 2023, the Syntronic team has been at the forefront of developing Open RAN radios for our clients across North America and internationally. From 8T8R macro-cell radios leveraging Syntronic’s own advanced High-Power Amplifier (HPA) designs, to 32T32R mMIMO Radios both driven by Intel’s Agilex® 7 SoC FPGA powered by Intel’s O-RAN enablement packages and Analog Devices, Inc.’s (ADI) next-generation RadioVerse® transceiver, our customers are excited to leverage the high-performance features these solutions offer while lowering R&D and development time of their up-and-coming products.
“It's exciting to witness the collaboration between Intel and Syntronic in developing cutting-edge O-RAN radio technology. This partnership leverages Intel's high-performance Agilex® FPGA and SoC FPGA Family, known for its leading performance per watt, combined with Syntronic's expertise in radio design. Together, they are bringing high-performance solutions to the market,” says, Christian Lanzani, Head of the Wireless and Access Business Unit at Intel.
“Through these collaborative efforts, we’ve been able to create high-performance open radio unit platforms that are designed to help developers get to market quickly,” said Nick Karter, Director of Wireless Marketing at ADI. “Leveraging our fifth generation RadioVerse transceiver SoC with enhanced digital front end reduces radio energy consumption and minimizes radio size and weight.”
Additionally, Syntronic's manufacturing facility in Ottawa, Canada is playing a crucial role in building and dispatching these radios. Recent further investments in the factory's testing capabilities have allowed Syntronic to ramp up production of some of the industry's most sophisticated telecommunication products. These enhancements not only facilitate the building and delivery of the radios but also ensure quality, supply stability, and adherence to made-in-country policies.
“Our recent investment in upgrading our structural and ICT capability ensures we can rapidly test customer assemblies and further enhance our production quality,” says Andrew Dale, VP & Head of Syntronic Production Services Canada.
For the upcoming year, Syntronic is working on developing several new O-RAN solutions and looking forward to supporting customers with delivering products to market on time.
"With ever increasing requests to rapidly customize solutions and enable new telecom systems, we continue to make investments in design capacity and capability. Today we have over 80 new roles open in North America for specialized teams focused on building network solutions from Sat-Com to RAN. Having technology leaders like Intel and ADI collaborating with Syntronic allows us to provide the best possible solutions to our customers” says Hans Molin, President Syntronic Canada.
