Syntronic supports inclusivity in engineering through mentorship programme
In light of International Students’ Day celebrated this month, Syntronic is proud to actively participate in the mentorship program organized by the Network for Female and Non-binary Engineers of Uppsala (SIV). The aim of the programme is to contribute to a future where students of all genders feel welcome in the engineering profession. As a strategy for achieving that, women and non-binary students are offered support designed to make the transition from academia to working life smoother.
A crucial part of the programme are guidance sessions between experienced engineering professionals and students. Through personalized guidance, students can outline their preferences for a mentor based on experience, career path, and expertise. The mentorship sessions are always confidential, free, and tailored to the student’s needs.
Among the experienced mentors in the program are Syntronic’s engineers Bella Zhang and Linda Teggen, who are both dedicated to providing guidance and encouragement to the next generation of engineers.
“It’s such a meaningful program for connecting young female students with professionals, something I wish I’d had during my own studies. I was motivated to help students gain insights into future working life by sharing my experiences, and I also find inspiration from them”, says Bella Zhang.
Growth and empowerment
Linda Teggen, who is passionate about empowering women in engineering, shares her perspective on the transformative power of mentorship. "As a woman from a background not commonly represented in this field of study, I know from experience how important mentors are. This mentoring program gives me the opportunity to share my experiences while learning from others,” she shares.
“My goal is to use what I gain here to inspire and support women who are interested in pursuing engineering but face significant barriers. That is what drives me to participate in this mentorship program,” Linda adds.
Syntronic’s commitment to the SIV mentorship program reflects a long-term dedication to fostering diversity and inclusivity within the engineering industry.
By continuing to support this program, Syntronic aspires to contribute to a future where engineering is a welcoming field for individuals of all genders.
