Introducing Syntronic’s own Femtronic: Our network for women in tech at Syntronic Research and Development
Femtronic, our new in-house network, provides a dedicated space for women to connect, bond, and network. In addition to the goal of inspiring and supporting each other, Femtronic is also a forum for discussing strategies for attracting more women into tech careers and to make women feel more welcome in the industry.
"We believe that everyone should feel welcome to pursue their passion for technology, regardless of gender," says Josefine Bergqvist, talent acquisition specialist and head coordinator for Femtronic.
“At Femtronic, we talk about what we can do to spread the message that tech careers are open to everyone,” she adds.
Since its launch in early 2023, the network has organized a series of in-house seminars. A dedicated team of Femtronic ambassadors now form part of the network. Their expertise ranges from advanced test development and physics to hardware development, project management, and algorithm development.

Inclusivity in engineering
Acknowledging that engineering historically was a predominantly male-dominated field, Alma Lund, algorithm developer and Femtronics ambassador, emphasizes the importance of actively working towards a more inclusive future.
“It’s important to make careers paths in tech and engineering visible to girls and women from an early age, so that everyone is aware of the opportunities that exist in our sectors,” Alma comments.
Alma, who believes that the gender discrepancy has historical reasons, is convinced that brighter times await. “Through role models and the positive experiences of today’s female engineers who show that everything is possible, change will happen,” she says.

Positive contribution
For Aminet Haruye, engineer and Femtronic ambassador, networks such as Femtronic can be used as a forum for discussing important industry issues, such as the need for high-quality education.
"To me, education stands as the cornerstone for effecting positive change. If we want equality in the tech community, education is the first step," Haruye emphasizes. "I’m looking forward to continuing our discussions within Femtronic,” she says.
Femtronic will continue to organize in-house seminars on a variety of different topic.
"We hope that the network will continue to grow. We are open to suggestions for topics to discuss and initiative to support,” Josefine Bergqvist concludes.
