Product Description

Syntronic developed an advanced vision and laser-based measurement system for automated inspection of welded steel plates in demanding industrial environments. The solution combines high-resolution vision technology with precision laser measurement to verify both weld quality and the surrounding ground surface in a single automated process.

Designed for high-volume steel production, the measurement frame performs simultaneous inspection from both sides of the workpiece, providing complete coverage while eliminating the need for multiple inspection stages. The system delivers reliable, repeatable measurements that help manufacturers maintain stringent quality standards while improving production efficiency.

Scope

The project included the design and development of a robust measurement frame integrating multiple vision sensors and laser measurement technology capable of operating in an industrial steel production environment.

The inspection system simultaneously evaluates weld geometry and the finish of the surrounding ground surfaces from both sides of the steel plate. This dual-face inspection approach provides a comprehensive quality assessment while reducing inspection time and ensuring consistent measurement results.

The solution was engineered to achieve measurement tolerances of ±0.025 mm, enabling accurate detection of dimensional deviations and supporting stringent production quality requirements. Advanced data processing provides operators with immediate inspection results, allowing rapid identification of potential defects before downstream processing.

Results

The completed system has been successfully installed and is in operation at a large scale production facility in northern europe, where it supports automated quality control of welded steel plates.
