As a member of a dynamic development team, the Senior HW designer will be responsible for planning, scheduling, architecture, design, testing and delivery to manufacturing of carrier-grade hardware used for optical line systems capable of 400Gbps and beyond and broadband fiber access systems with PON rates of up to 50Gbps.

What you'll do

  • Lead HW development projects and advise and mentor other HW team members
  • Own all aspects of circuit pack development schedule, prototype delivery, product testing and product certification
  • Work with product line management and other managers to interpret and negotiate product features and specifications
  • Lead and interface with contract resources outside of your organization
  • Define technical specifications to support design concepts, and participate in specification peer reviews
  • Participate in design reviews, guide technical discussions to conclusion
  • Interface with component vendors and negotiate design specifications with external suppliers
  • Review Designs to ensure they meet architecture goals
  • Support the technology transfer to manufacturing/production testing
  • What you'll need to get the job done

  • Degree in electrical engineering or equivalent coupled with 12+ years experience in optical transport or fiber access equipment development or high-speed circuit pack development
  • Experience with 1RU-14RU carrier-grade system requirements and high-speed optical and access fiber transmission systems
  • Experience with board level development and being a lead designer for development projects
  • Experience and understanding of design for testability and manufacturability concepts
  • Experience in developing environmentally hardened optical transport and access systems Experience with a variety of optical interfaces and telecommunications standards up to 400G and beyond is an asset
