Chunmiao Chen, Senior Product and Test Development Engineer:
"Mentorship is how we shape the future of tech"
We talk to Chunmiao Chen, a Senior PTD Engineer at Syntronic, whose strong interest in mentorship has become a driving force in her career. With over seven years of experience, she actively supports representation in tech by leading technical workshops and collaborating with local schools to inspire and empower the next generation of engineers.
Chunmiao’s interest in engineering began with a childhood memory: A red remote-controlled car that wouldn’t steer properly. She remembers crouching in a corner, disassembling the toy to uncover the maze of copper wires inside. “
That moment sparked something in me,” she recalls. Later, after reading The Biography of Steve Jobs, she understood that programming could be a way to turn imagination into real-world solutions.
Chunmiao went on to earn a degree in software engineering from Shanxi University. Since joining Syntronic in 2017, Chunmiao has worked on product and test development-related projects, contributing to long-term client collaborations and creating tools that have significantly improved team efficiency. Among her achievements are a work hour management system that reduced manual errors by 80% and a laboratory management platform that streamlined operations.
For Chunmiao, one of the most meaningful parts of her role is mentorship. “Watching women in tech lead their first AI project, that is how we shatter the glass ceiling,” she says.
Moreover, she regularly supports colleagues stepping into leadership roles, sharing her knowledge through structured mentoring and outreach work with students.

Robotics for All
Outside of work, Chunmiao is an avid mountaineer and volunteers with Robotics for All, teaching programming to underprivileged youth. She also plays guitar; a hobby she says enhances her creativity and helps her think in new ways.
Looking ahead, Chunmiao remains committed to mentoring others while continuing to innovate in the projects that she is involved with.
“It’s not just about solving problems – it’s about empowering others to solve them too. That’s how we shape the future of tech: one project, one person at a time,” she concludes.
