Merlin Antenna and PSA
Customer: Global Manufacturer of Cardiac Rhythm Management Systems
Project: Cardiac Lead Performance Analyzer for Clinical Evaluation

Product Description

Syntronic was selected as the electronics design partner for a cardiac lead performance analyzer used to evaluate the functionality of implanted cardiac leads. The device plays a critical role during implantation and follow-up procedures by enabling accurate clinical assessment of lead performance, supporting safe and effective operation of implantable cardiac systems.

The product was designed to meet strict medical device requirements for accuracy, reliability, ready for volume manufacturing, and long-term availability. Its robust architecture has enabled consistent clinical use across global healthcare environments for many years.

Scope

Syntronic was responsible for the complete electronics design of the cardiac lead performance analyzer, including design verification testing (DVT), DFM/DFT/DFC, and the development of comprehensive production test systems. The scope encompassed hardware design, thermal simulation, verification activities, and the creation of production-ready test solutions optimized for repeatability, quality assurance, and long-term use.

The production test systems were engineered to ensure consistent manufacturing quality and operational efficiency throughout the product lifecycle. As a result, the analyzer has been in continuous production for a long time without any major changes to either the product design or the production test systems.

Results

The collaboration delivered a highly reliable medical device with exceptional lifecycle performance. The stable electronics design and durable production test systems minimized the need for redesigns, reduced operational risk, and supported long-term manufacturing continuity.

The extended production lifespan stands as a clear demonstration of the quality and foresight of the original design, ensuring sustained clinical value and cost efficiency over time.

Key outcomes included:

  • High reliability and accuracy in clinical evaluation of cardiac leads
  • Robust production test systems enabling consistent manufacturing quality
  • Reduced lifecycle and maintenance costs through stable design
  • Long-term product availability supporting critical clinical procedures

Through its collaboration with Syntronic, the medical technology company secured a dependable engineering partner with deep expertise in medical electronics, verification, and production test development, delivering solutions designed for longevity, quality, and clinical trust.
