Syntronic delivers test system to leading broadband access solutions provider

Recently, Syntronic delivered a functional production test system to a leading media distribution and broadband access solutions provider. The system developed by Syntronic focuses on adaptability, efficiency, and ensuring seamless integration into the client's production line.

The firm’s reason for choosing Syntronic is that they sought a partner that could design an adaptive, low-cost test solution for high volume manufacturing and deliver on a tight schedule. To meet those needs, Syntronic designed and delivered a modular, ruggedized custom RF test system with interchangeable fixtures operating over the 0 - 1.8 GHz frequency range.

Multiple benefits

Thanks to a common rack & mating interface, the solution developed by Syntronic was able to draw upon varying equipment depending on the target device under test. Among the key benefits was the inclusion of tuning cover features in the system amplifier test fixtures, complete with clamping and ejector mechanisms. Since these covers are dependent on the RF performance requirements, they came in different designs, each matched to a specific amplifier.

Additionally, RF component test stations were made reconfigurable to adjust for a variety of components including RF filters, AGCs, and microprocessor assemblies.

Another benefit was the simple and intuitive HMI based on 3^rd party off-the shelf frameworks, which enabled the firm to rapidly train its personnel on the system’s operation. As well, the support of external configuration files added a layer of flexibility for change management.

Flexible and efficient testing

The result is a production test system that fully delivered on the firm’s expectations of semi-automated testing with fully automated measurements, where the only operator interactions are for tuning operations.
