server hall

Syntronic recently developed and produced a blade server pass-through module solution for a large domestic computing equipment manufacturer. The leading manufacturer chose Syntronic as ODM (Original Design Manufacturer). The pass-through module provided by Syntronic in the context of this project can reduce network costs and improve parallel efficiency, while ensuring high bandwidth and low latency.

The customized blade server pass-through module developed and designed by is a high-speed networking device. It provides an easy connection between the system chassis and any external network infrastructure. The server also provides an external data interface. As a result of the design, the computing nodes in the chassis can be directly connected to external TOR data center switches via ethernet.

Moreover, our module also supports six generations of IEEE standards, 25Gb/10Gb ethernet auto-negotiation and 14 high-speed ethernet links. According to the characteristics of I/O modules installed in pairs, and at the same time to achieve redundancy and improve performance, the pass-through modules are installed in the I/O area behind the system chassis.

Tests and advantages

Syntronic performed FCT board-level function tests and FST machine function tests on the pass-through module during the production process. The FCT board-level functional tests included MCU and CPLD automatic programming function tests, analog voltage tests, I2C tests, VPD tests, temperature tests, power tests, clock tests, LED tests, RS-232 and other serial port tests. Moreover, Syntronic’s test engineers tested the PRBS reliability of the pass-through module through eye diagrams to ensure the successful delivery of the pass-through module.

The main advantages of blade servers are the low operating costs, high processing density, and the fact that few cable connection points are required. In the future, blade servers will become more and more modular, and their computing power and scalability will become stronger.
