Description of the thesis proposal:

In our endless search for new exiting opportunities and technologies, we always strive to find people and companies who wants to join us in building the future and developing tomorrow’s technical solutions.

For this we need a way to display our multidisciplinary portfolio into a format that is easy to grasp for the audience, and shows our potential as a technical design house, at company presentations and meetings with new customers.

An overview of the thesis work 

For this purpose, we have a created a demo environment that we call ‘AutoDrive’. This tool is an implementation of advanced driving algorithms and sensor fusion technologies coupled with a 3D virtual environment that can be used for testing everything from graphical objects and landscapes to decision making algorithms and AI behavior in real world applications.

In the next big step, we want to create a way to utilize this environment in an even more immersive way, by developing a link between the observer (the audience) and the underlying system. To do this we need to find a way for the AI-decisions and algorithm outputs to be communicated in real time to a front end that can be displayed to any user of any background. This should preferably be done using a web-based protocol or framework.

For example, the thesis work will include: 

• Implement an AI-showcase for our technical demonstrator AutoDrive
• Create an output/API for displaying underlaying mechanisms and information from simulation environment
• Draft a presentation view of suitable parameters and data that can be used for future development of information material and front ends.

For a successful thesis work, we believe that the applicants should have:

• An understanding of relevant software and hardware components
• Some experience from working with both hardware and software
• Experience with unreal engine 4, Carla, ROS, embedded programming, or game development.
