Thesis Proposal – Methodology to measure high resolution currents in a test system
Examensarbete - Gävle
Apply for this jobTitle:
Methodology to measure high resolution currents in a test system.
Description of the thesis proposal:
In production of electronic products, it is sometimes desired to measure and analyse currents with a high resolution. A challenge with this type of measurements is that the current can be both low (mA or even µA) and high (50-100A). If there is a shunt involved the measured voltage can be very low and a buffer solution is needed.
The thesis should consist of analysing different test methods and equipment to measure currents. Also, different buffer solutions to avoid interference of the test object and to adapt the impedance for the measuring device.
For example, the thesis work could include:
- Signal buffering, amplifying and filtering by designing custom hardware.
- Signal amplifying and filtering by using standard hardware (e.g. shunts, induction).
- Methods to measure both High and Low currents in the same system.
- Buffering methods for impedance adaptation.
The main goal of this thesis is to compare some different test methods and determine the reliability and accuracy of these. The project covers literature studies, hardware development.
We seek one to two students for this thesis. Depending on the applicant’s background and interests, we are flexible in the scope of the thesis project.
For a successful thesis work, we believe that the applicants should have:
- Experience in electronics and hardware.
- Interest/knowledge of Signal Processing.
