Background

Are you tired of getting lost in large supermarkets or warehouses, can’t you find what you are looking for or are you visiting a new store you haven’t been to? In today’s fast-moving world, no one wants to feel like they are wasting time. Imagine never again feeling the frustration of spending time looking for a specific item or directions, say goodbye to that frustration and hello to peace of mind!

We’d like to develop a cutting-edge positioning system utilizing Wi-fi, Bluetooth and magnetic flux with fingerprint algorithms to determine a person’s position in a pre-defined floorplan.

The use of WiFi or Bluetooth for indoor localization has become commonplace with multiple actors on the market, but what if multi-source localization can further improve the performance?

We foresee the student utilizing multiple Wi-fi and Bluetooth beacons in combination with magnetic flux sensors to collect, process and compare data with help of fingerprint algorithms. Based on the findings, present the advantages and disadvantages of the different methodologies.

  • What advantages and disadvantages do the different methodologies have?
  • Any benefits with using multi-source localization methodology?

For a successful thesis work, we believe that the applicants should:

  • Have a background in either Software- or Embedded Engineering.
