Description of the thesis proposal:

Tests of products are carried out today in the production line or in a separate fixture. The test solution for a certain product is dependent on production volumes, quality requirements, cost and development time. There is a correlation between volume and automation, the higher the volume – the higher is the automation level in the testing.

Today’s challenge is testing a higher volume of products where cost is extremely competitive or testing of products that are not suitable in a mass production environment. Still, the requirement is to automate the test to a high level.

The purpose of this work is to develop a model/prototype for an automated test where several products are tested consecutively and place the products in an approved or non-approved pile. The project concerns literature studies, hardware development and/or software development.

We seek one to two students for this thesis. Depending on the applicant’s background and interests, we are flexible in the scope of the thesis project.

Challenges:

• Systematize and automate the tests
• Software design and/or hardware design to build a prototype
• Handle the flow of the test objects during the test.
