You will be a principal-level hands-on firmware architect with significant experience in embedded system design and real-time embedded software/firmware development for leading-edge optical line system product line. The Firmware Architect is responsible for defining the firmware architecture and requirements based on deep understanding of product/system requirements, use cases and features. The firmware architect drives the development team towards a modular, re-usable, modern software/ firmware architecture. She/he will provide hands-on involvement with development and test through the entire product realization process.
What you will do:
Provide firmware architecture definition that dictates scalable and reusable implementation of firmware solutions across different HW and optical control applications
Work closely with firmware developers, system architects and other functional teams on defining and driving scalable embedded firmware solutions
Participate hands-on development and testing of FW solutions as required
Perform design, design review, coding, code review as needed
Define firmware technology roadmap
Lead firmware feasibility study for new technologies and
Analyze firmware performance for bottlenecks
Constantly look for ways to increase the team’s velocity/productivity by innovation
What you need to get the job done
Experience with optical networking communication systems – especially optical transceivers or/and fiber optics modules
A Master or higher degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent education
10~15 years working experience in software/firmware architecture and/or development for embedded systems.
5~10 years’ experience in modern embedded software/firmware architectures with focus on modularity and reusability- like micro-services and container technologies
Experienced C/C++/Python programming experience & debugging skills for embedded systems.
Deep understanding of SOC controller/processor and Linux kernel, real-time OS
Validated ability to methodically root-cause sophisticated failure mechanisms at code level, feature level and sub/system level
Experience in hardware/software interfaces and debugging sophisticated issues in CPU and firmware using JTAG, source code debuggers and other tools
Proven ability to grasp new technical concepts quickly.
Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills

Receiver and Transmitter Optical Sub-Assemblies (ROSA/TOSA/TROSA), and Digital Coherent Optics (DCO)
Knowledge of Wavelength Selective Switching (WSS)
Knowledge of various management interface protocols (NETCONF, gRPC, gNxI) and data models (YANG)
