What you’ll do
· You will be an integral contributor to a long-term project developing 5G NR. There are multiple teams developing software for RU, DU, CU, OAM, nRT RIC components, and Linux SW platform.
· Software development responsibilities for all components include:
· Following an Agile product development process, working collaboratively in cross-functional teams
· Creating software architecture for base and platform SW that interfaces with upper layer application software.
· Contributing to all stages of software development process starting from design, through implementation and test to integration and deployment.
· Software delivery using a software version control system (GitHub etc.)
· Driving selection of tools and methodologies as well as their introduction to the project.
· Taking active part in the hardware / software integration at the component level, as well as system integration between components and end to end.
What you need to get the job done
· A bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering or Computer Science
· Expert C/C++ and python coding skills, in a multi-core target environment and/or under cloud-native architecture
· Minimum of 5+ year of industry experience bringing products to market
· Experience throughout the full software development lifecycle, from conception, architecture definition, detailed design, scoping, planning, implementation, testing to documentation, delivery and maintenance
· Experience in integrating third-party software IP
· Experience in creating and debugging unit tests
· Expert knowledge in writing thread-safe code
· Effective team player, willingness to help build a collaborative and trusting community
· Knowledge of professional software engineering and best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing and operations
· Excellent written and oral communication skill.
Technical expertise (5+ years experience) in one or more of these domains:
· 4G/5G-NR system and architecture design, feature specification
· Linux Kernel software development, including knowledge of Linux Kernel, device driver, boot process, bash shell scripting
· Building thread-safe software in Linux environment. Understanding of synchronization and IPC.
· Multiprocessor system on a chip (such as ARM Cortex-A53, a graphics processing unit (GPU) and a high-end FPGA, i.e. MPSoC)
· Working knowledge in U-boot, Git, Yocto and build root
· Memory - NOR, NAND, SRAM, DRAM, AMBA, EMI, AXI, etc.
· Basic protocols - I2C, SPI, Quad-SPI and UART
· L1 SW Development based on SoC
· L2 (PDCP, RLC, and MAC) and Scheduler development based on x86 architecture or SoC (ARM)
· L3 (RRC, RRM) development
· OAM and platform development on COTS hardware/RT Linux
· C/C++, gdb, Linux, sockets, IPC, multithreaded programming, databases
· Experience using scripting languages (python, shell (bash), etc)
· Knowledge of and experience with basic design Patterns
· Good Knowledge of 3GPP and O-RAN OAM specification
· Virtualized RAN design using VM orchestrated/managed by OpenStack or/and Container managed/orchestrated by Kubernetes
· nRT-RIC (near Real-Time RAN Intelligent Controller) and xApp development
What will make us REALLY love you
· Experience developing software in cellular radio technologies, i.e. 4G, LTE, 5G, NR, RU, RRH
· Detailed understanding of the 3GPP LTE/5G-NR standards and O-RAN specification
· Experience in networking or telecommunication
· Understanding O-RAN architecture and its practical application
· Strong hands-on skills in multi-core embedded or open-source software design
· Outstanding problem-solving ability, including debugging/analytical skills
· Organized, goal-oriented, self-starter, with a team focused mentality
· Able to mentor and guide junior members of the team
